# AI Monetization Playbook

Patterns for packaging, pricing, and positioning AI products so experiments become real revenue opportunities.

Original FFC practical guide, published October 2026. Related sessions provide topic context; this guide is not a transcript or an attributed speaker resource.

## Start with the buyer’s workflow

Separate the user, buyer and approver. Ask where the workflow loses time, revenue or quality, and what the organisation already pays to solve that problem. Do not assume an impressive demo creates willingness to pay.

Write a narrow value proposition: for a specific user doing a specific job, this product improves one measurable outcome. Choose one customer segment for the first experiment.

```text
User:
Buyer:
Job to be done:
Current alternative:
Measurable improvement:
Reason to change now:
```

## Choose a value metric you can explain

Compare a subscription, usage allowance and outcome-based package. For each option, show the customer how the bill grows and show your team how delivery costs grow. Consider inference, retries, tools, storage, review and support.

Use pricing conversations to test assumptions. Present a clearly bounded offer and ask which part the buyer values, what adoption would require and what would prevent purchase. Record objections before changing the package.

- [ ] Specify included usage and overage handling.
- [ ] Explain the difference between a trial and a paid offer.
- [ ] Estimate delivery costs under ordinary and heavy usage.
- [ ] Identify procurement, privacy and adoption requirements.
- [ ] Measure activation and repeat use alongside conversion.

## Run a small commercial experiment

Recruit a small set of relevant prospects. Keep the offer consistent long enough to learn whether the segment, outcome and package make sense together. Track buyer conversations, trials, activations, repeat usage and paid conversions.

Review the evidence with the team. If people try the product but do not return, improve the workflow before expanding acquisition. If repeat users will not pay, investigate buyer alignment, measurable value and the commercial package.
